Updates on Webmetricsguru and coming down to earth after California

Feeling a little low on morale today, progress on webmetricsguru.com is going slowly and I am not really sure what I am seeing in terms of traffic.

New template is in place but needs some changes; meanwhile, sitemap issues have been addressed and a reconsideration request to Google has been put in to remedy Know More Media did to my blog.

The Buzzlogic tag and advertising are active and a lot of plugins are being installed soon.

Yet, I feel empty, exhausted, and often feeling almost hopefully broke. It seems no matter how hard I work and make, I am often broke.

To make things worse, while I am making a good living, I often feel I can’t keep up with soaring expenses. There’s more to this story but I will not talk about it here.

Finally, I haven’t really painted in a few months, but do sketch often, and not sure what committment I have to my own work.

Thinking about gets me sleepy, tired, and a little deptessed.

  1. Hey Marshall,

First it was great to meet you last week at the BuzzLogic offices. As a painter myself – I wanted to reach out – cause whenever I don’t find time or skip out on painting for a while, I always feel like there is something missing. Jump back into it – there is something to be said for the therapy of moving the brush around – even if only for 5 minutes.

    Take care!

  2. Thanks Julia,

Was nice meeting you too! Yeah, sometimes I just get down on myself. It’s true, I haven’t really painted much lately – it comes in waves – usually it’s driven by a need to express an idea or feeling.

I suppose, that’s what I find engaging about Analytics, I see it as another way of expressing an idea, a feeling – to uncover some fundamental truth about a situation.

Yeah, thanks for that – and I wrote it on my iPhone, so forgive my mispellings. The iPhone is a great device, but it still hasn’t fully matured, and is missing a lot of what makes writing easier (like spell checking and a decent keyboard, cut and paste, etc).

Also, I was careful not write that at Webmetricsguru.com – it’s part of my way of making some separation between and industry blog (Webmetricsguru.com), where I express my opinion and feelings, and TheAnalyticsGuru.com, which is my blog to express whatever I want, in both Analytics and Art.

And yes, the progress is steady, but slow on Webmetricsguru.com – I’m frustrated I haven’t been able to do more to speed it up – some of it is just timing, some of it is finding out it’s harder to set this thing and another part is a the need to materialize ideas that are still forming.

And it was great to go by Buzzlogic’s offices on Friday, btw – and also to have Todd Parsons speaking at SES with Breanna and I about the case study.

    Thanks again,
    Marshall

  3. Keep it up Marshall! You’re doing a great job!

Saw the new template on WebMetricsGuru – looks great. I like how clean it is. And having been a graphic designer in a past life – I know just how frustrating redesign projects can be. Try to have fun with it 🙂

And yes – sounds like SES went really well! I loved hearing everyone’s response afterwards.

Congrats and good luck with the many projects!

    Best,
    Julia
